Movie term of the Week: “The Stress Movie”

Defined as any movie in which the point is for the characters to spend at least 90% of the film in a stressful situation that could easily kill them.  The stress must befall the characters in the first 15 minutes and continue on through the rest of the movie with very few moments of relief.  Death must follow the characters according to the Hollywood Celebrity Food Chain.  Usually refers to the plot of any disaster movie but the definition can be elastic.

Examples: Jurassic Park (1993), Open Water (2003), The Posiedan Adventure (1972)
