It is flawed, confusing and some would say downright unnecessary. For me, it comes with mixed feelings. Every time I revisit the film, I go in with an open mind, and an open heart. I find it to be a well made film, with a lot of gaping flaws. For everything that works here, I could find something else that doesn’t. The film is a mixed bag of successes and missteps, so it becomes a minefield of what I am willing to overlook. As a course of attempting to watch the entire saga, I have to start here.
As I’ve said before, it’s like a cousin that you love but you don’t visit that often. You love them but you won’t go out of your way to see them. I am like a lot of hardcore Star Wars fans in that I have a complicated relationship with it. How I react to it dependent on how I feel at the moment. I don’t find it to be the struggle that most people do, but it depends on my state of mind.
